Do you get nervous when you go to the dentist? Steelcroft Dental would like to assure you that your emotional and physical needs are our pleasure and that we will strive to take the best possible care of you and your teeth. We’d like to help empower you as you prepare to visit us, so here are three strategies we can suggest for your trip to the dentist:

Communicate: When you call to schedule your appointment, let us know that you have dental anxiety. Not only will it feel better if you share your feelings, but it will help us to better prepare to meet your needs. Feel free also to ask us any questions both before and during your appointment. If you ever feel uncomfortable or need more anesthetic, let us know and we will address those needs accordingly.

Distract Yourself: It helps to take your mind off of where you are. You are welcome to bring headphones with your favorite songs or an audiobook to listen to. You can even bring a stress ball to squeeze. It may help to close your eyes and visualize your happy place, like a beach or a forest.

Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness employs various relaxation techniques. Focus on your breathing. Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Count each breath. You can also concentrate on relaxing each part of your body one at a time.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment in Charlotte, North Carolina with Dr. Vinutha Kupperi, please don’t hesitate to call our friendly dental staff at 704-749-6300. We’re here to help.
